The sterilized eggs of Ephestia kuehniella are a perfect alternative source of nutrition for mirid bugs.

Application
More info

When predatory mirid bugs are present in large quantities, they're an excellent opponent of pest prey. A disadvantage of these predatory mirid bugs however, is that they build their population very slowly, especially when there are no sources of nutrition, like whitefly or red spider mite.

The eggs of Ephestia kuehniella (Nutrimac) are good protein-rich food. Predatory mirid bugs will be able to develop well, even without the presence of  a prey. This way these predatory mirid bugs can be introduced before harmful insects are present in the greenhouse.
Benefits
More info
  •  Nutrimac (Ephestia kuehniella) is harmless for the crop. The Ephestia eggs are sterilized to prevent emergence of larvae.
  • The eggs of the moths are a rich source of proteins for predatory bugs.
  • Combined with Nutrimac, the predatory mirid bug can build its population rather early, even without the presence of harmful insects or mites.
Packaging

Nutrimac is delivered in a very handy 30 ml PE-bottle. These bottles contain 10 gr of Ephestia kuehniella eggs, mixed with moisture-regulating orange carrier. Nutrimac is very easy to measure and apply.

Biobest's advice
More info
  • Start the introduction of Nutrimac as soon as predatory bugs are introduced.
  • Slightly moisturizing the crop before the introduction of Nutrimac, increases the adhesive strength.
  •  Nutrimac is best applied in those areas where predatory mirid bugs are introduced. It is also better to  mark these introduction areas with Signal Clips.
  •  Introductions should be done for 2 to 4 weeks using a dose of 10 to 20 gr/ha.
  •  Nutrimac is applied right under the head of the plant, to avoid direct sunlight. Not too low, as it can be removed too early by leaf picking.
